Doris Jean Gist Arcand

Doris Jean Gist Arcand, 73, passed away on Thurs., April 2, 2021, in the Shepherd of the Valley Hospice Unit Casper, Wyo. 

She was born to Mildred and Charles Gist in Ft. Worth, Texas, on November 11, 1947. She grew up in Ft. Worth and got her elementary and high school education at Diamond Hills schools, graduating from high school in 1965. She went to college in Denton, Texas, at the University of North Texas and got her BA in 1969. 

She married Tom Arcand in 1969 and they lived in Big Spring, Texas. They had two precious children Andrea and Greg. She taught in Hillcrest Baptist Christian school and later became BSU director for SWCID in Big Spring, Texas. Doris and Tom later divorced. 

Doris got her Masters degree in deaf education in 1997, afterwards dedicating her life to educating deaf children in Houston, Texas. Later she retired to Austin and then to Thermopolis where she lived the last 7 years of her life. 

She is survived by her sister, Brenda Gist Richter (Duane); daughter Andrea (Jeff) Arcand Lent; son, Greg (Heather) Arcand; and grandchildren, Charlie, Danica, Luke, Elizabeth and Micah. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Gist; and newborn sister. Charlene.
