Wrestlers perform well

Last week was a slow week of practice for the Bobcat wrestlers as they were all working to get back at after being quarantined because of COVID-19.

Thursday night was senior night for Logan Cole and Remington Ferree against Greybull.

Cole is a two time state champion that plans to attend South Dakota School of Mines and play football. He got a pin in his match.

Ferree is an All-state wrestler for his sophomore year and third place last year. "We did not get a match for Remington as Greybull didn't have a heavyweight. We did not get a lot of matches with Greybull as we were both limited in wrestlers," said coach Travis McDermott.

Jessen Basse Wyatt McDermott, Roedy Farrell and Logan Cole all had wins.

Saturday the Bobcats were in Moorcroft going up against two 4A powerhouses in Natrona and Thunder Basin.

"Our guys took this as an opportunity to not only improve but to prove that they can wrestle with anyone in the state," said McDermott.

Against Natrona the Bobcats only had one win with Cole getting a pin over the #4 ranked wrestler in 4A. Against Thunder Basin the Bobcats got two wins with Farrell taking down the #4 ranked wrestler in a good performance. Ferree also got a win with a great takedown early in his match. "Our guys went out and wrestled without hesitation and wrestled toughm," said McDermott.

The Bobcat's last dual of the week was against the mixed team of Moorcroft and Hulett where Dalton Price, Seth Needham, McDermott, Bubba Bowman, Farrell, Cole and Ferree all got pins.

"This week with a full week of practice we should get our legs back under us and see improvements in our overall wrestling when we will see Tongue River and Buffalo Friday night in Buffalo. Saturday we are in Wright for a slate of 2-3 duals," said McDermott.
