Praise for ice skating rink given

In the most recent Thermopolis - Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting, Pastor Sam Needham, President of the Chamber, gave high praises for the ice skating rink just outside of town. “It’s awesome. My kids have been using a lot, the skates, it’s a great idea.”

Chamber Director Meri Ann Rush said that it was a group effort with Hot City Outdoor Alliance and with Big Horn Basin Outdoor Coalition.  They get together once a month to promote outdoor recreation. Rush said the Rec District in Powell donated the approximately 25 pairs of skates to them. The December Business After Hours recipient Hot City of the 50/50 paid for getting all the skates sharpened.

In her Director’s Report, Rush talked about her recent trip to Tucson as it was her third year attending for her certificate of Institute of Organizational Management. She said her learning gives different tools and the connections are awesome. There are 35 people in her class and getting together with other executives and brainstorming and getting advice is really eye-opening. This experience has given Rush a lot of ideas she wants to implement and will need help with.

Rush also reported on the coming Governor’s Hospitality and Tourism Conference on February 23-27, “I go every year because I feel that Thermopolis should have representation at all these meetings. She expressed the great importance of being involved. “I sincerely feel if Thermopolis is not at the table we are forgotten. And that’s why I try to make sure [we attend] that all these meetings.”

Additionally, Rush received a Letter of Resignation from Vivian Butchart from the board of directors. Butchart said that she served since the 1980s and always enjoyed the camaraderie efforts in helping make the community the best it can be. She said that she was not fully able to give 100% at this time and decided to step down.
