Bobcats improve record with win over Wheatland

The Hot Springs County High School football team’s conference record stands at 2-1 after a 41-33 away victory over Wheatland last Friday.

Coach Matt McPhie said, “It was a big road victory for the team. This marks the first time Thermopolis has ever beaten Wheatland in Wheatland.

“The team had some strong performances across the board.

Offensively, they were led by Duder “MT” Harvey. Harvey accounted for five touchdowns on the night and over 320 yards of offense. He threw three touchdown passes and ran for two. On the receiving end of his passes were Blake Williams, Logan Cole, and Cade McLean.

“Harvey’s playing good football. He’s using his instincts well. He reminds me of a kid in a candy store right now. He’s got a bag full of goodies, a smile on his face, and he loves the process!

“Remington Ferree also added a rushing touchdown. The team amassed over 600 yards from scrimmage which tops any team in the state this season. The offensive line did an outstanding job all night. They were led by Oran Coyne, Spencer Axtell, Remington Ferree, Jason Clouse, and Riley Shaffer.

“On defense, the team made some big plays down the stretch to keep the game in check. Blake Williams and Cade McLean had a big interceptions. Logan Cole had a nice night on defense included a forced fumble sack late in the game.”

The Bobcats will be at home again this week, with their final regular season game this Friday against Newcastle. Kickoff is at 6 p.m., and it’s also Senior Night.
