Linda Louise Garrelts Bredeson

Linda Louise Garrelts Bredeson, 74, passed away August 26, 2019, after a short and sudden illness.

Born April 22, 1945, in Casper, she moved to Thermopolis in 1955, where she was 1963 HSCHS valedictorian.

Linda graduated from Colorado College in 1967 with a degree in Zoology, and moved to Minneapolis, where she met and married Tom Bredeson; they had two children, Kate and Andrew, and later divorced. She lived in Indiana and California before returning to the Twin Cities, where she lived in her beloved Minnetonka neighborhood for over forty years. Over the years she worked in a bank, as an indexer at the Kinsey Institute, in a surgeon's office, as an accountant, and as an editor. She volunteered throughout her life.

A proud mom, Linda attended countless of her children's' plays, sports matches, and a total of seven graduations. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children. She was an enthusiastic grandma to two dogs and had several cats over the years. She had an astonishing ability to make things-from macramé to embroidery to cookies to elaborate costumes. She was an avid wordsmith with an encyclopedic memory; we will miss terribly her wry humor and brilliance. She died with her brother, daughter, son, and daughter-in-law at her side; Andrew and his fiancée MG got married in Linda's hospital room the day before she passed away.

She is survived by daughter, Kate of Portland, Ore.; son, Andrew (MG Huth) of Denver, Colo.; brother, Jim Garrelts of Thermopolis, Wyo.; niece, Rebecca (Parker) Sweet; nephews, Brett (Emilie) Garrelts and Rob (Christine) Fohr; niece, Emmie Fohr; great-nieces and nephews Maddie, Mae, Madeline, Brody, and Jacob; cats, George and Gracie; grand-dogs, Manny and Tennessee; members of the Bolduc, Donley, Lumley, Gravatt, and Fohr families; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary-Louise and Floyd Edgar Garrelts; grandparents, Jim and Patty Anderson, and Arthur and Mabel Garrelts; sister-in-law, Sandee Lumley Garrelts; and former parents-in-law Bob and Margaret Bredeson.

Cremation has been held. Private family services will happen at a later date. Donations can be made to the Humane Society or World Wildlife Fund.
