Turtles hit the water for annual trek

The 14th Annual Rotary Club of Thermopolis’ Great American Turbo Turtle Trek is this Saturday, Aug.17 in Hot Springs State Park, starting at 1 p.m.

The Trek is the main fundraiser for the local Rotary Club and the funds generated go towards service projects.

Masses of cute, vibrant green turtles are dropped into the outlet stream at the Big Spring in the park to float down to a catching spot. Each turtle has a number written on him and if your ticket matches that turtle’s number, you’re a winner.

First prize this year is $1,000 in cash with second prize being $500 and third prize, $250. There are at least 28 other great prizes to be awarded including family memberships from the Buffalo Bill Center, fly fishing trips, dinosaur digs, gift certificates and much more. You need not be present to win.
