On the Record for July 25

On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Drug Bust

On Monday, July 22, the Thermopolis Police Department and Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office collaborated in a major drug bust.

Officer Scott Gardner was first to respond to the scene and Deputy Jake Miller was second, in a bust that resulted in the seizure of 100.71 grams of meth that had a street value of about $15,000.

12:30 p.m. Report of suspicious activity at a business. The subjects were located and there was no sign of illegal activity.

4:05 p.m. Hollie N. Smith was arrested on a warrant.

4:54 p.m. Dominic M. Magelky was arrested on a warrant.

8:38 p.m. Christopher M. Bowman was arrested on a warrant.

1:34 p.m. Complainant believed a driver tried to hit him.

Saturday, July 20

1:42 p.m. A driver’s license was found on East River Road.

Sunday, July 21

12:02 a.m. Veaceslav Sinchetru was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

10:44 p.m. Dalton T. Ammon was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana.

Thursday, July 18

9:31 a.m. A child’s bicycle was turned in.

4:45 p.m. Reports of graffiti popping up around town. Anyone who notices such activity is encouraged to contact law enforcement.

Friday, July 19

11:14 a.m. Report of a found utility knife.

11:18 p.m. Nathaniel R. Velasquez was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

8:41 p.m. Melissa E. Balstad was arrested for alleged breach of peace.

Monday, July 22

4:57 a.m. A female subject was cited for possession of marijuana.

8:12 p.m. Report of a dog biting an officer.

Birth

Eli Michael Schulte was born July 16, 2019, at Texas Children’s Hospital Pavilion for Women in Houston, to Brandon and Lori Schulte of Pearland, Texas.

He weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 20-1/2 inches long.

Grandparents are Ray and Rhonda Schulte of Cody and Brenda Macias and Howard Ramirez, both of Pearland.

Great-grandparents are Benilde Valadez, Esther Ramirez, Cleone Uecker, Shelton Schuh and Cleo Schulte.

Circuit court

Jesse J. Krueger was found guilty of two counts of possession of a controlled substance and open container, and was sentenced to one year in jail with 361 days suspension and one year unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $1,465.

Jonathan L. Krei was found guilty of three counts of fraud by check. Fees and fines are $870. Restitution is $333.16.

Jacob Blair was found guilty of driving under the influence and was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.

Bronco T. Lonebear was found guilty of battery and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Fees and fines are $205. Restitution is $13,036.48.
