Softball playoffs on the horizon

June 27 meant a close 9-8 win for Slide One In, against the Rated “R” Superstars during action in the Hot Springs County Recreation District’s Adult Co-ed Softball League.

The matchup was the first game in a triple-header during which Storyteller won 15-8 against One Stop Repair. In the last game of the evening, One Stop came out on top of One Eyed Buffalo, 15-11.

Standout performers in the first game were Bryan Griffin with a 1.000 average, one run, four runs batted in and a grand slam for Slide One In, and Kelly Cole with a 1.000 average, two runs and four runs batted in for the Superstars.

Second game standouts were David Evans with a .750 average, two runs, six runs batted in, two home runs and a grand slam for Storyteller, and Katie Despain with a .667 average, two runs and three runs batted in for One Stop. Ryan O’Connor of One Stop also had an amazing catch, robbing Roman Bastida of Storyteller of a home run.

In the third game, standouts were Jason Ciz with a 1.000 average, three runs, two runs batted in and one home run for One Stop, and Matt Jones with a 1.000 average, two runs, two runs batted in and a home run for OEB.

On July 1, the Superstars won 10-5 against Robin Batsman. Standout performers were Erin Dyok with a 1.000 average, two runs and one run batted in for the Superstars, and Rachel Johnson with a 1.000 average, one run and one run batted in for Robin Batsman.

In the second game, OEB took down Slide One In with a 15-8 win. Standouts were Jerry Kizer with a 1.000 average, three runs, four runs batted in and two inside the park home runs for OEB, and Clemens Abbott with a 1.000 average, three runs and one run batted in for Slide One In.

Games are scheduled twice weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 6:30 p.m., with three-game nights to make up for games cancelled due to weather. Playoffs begin July 11, with the championship July 18.
