Second Friday ArtStroll featured downtown

The Second Friday ArtStroll/Still Strolling Saturday in downtown Thermopolis takes place Friday, July 12 from 5-8 p.m. Still Strolling Saturday on July 13 will feature a brewing demonstration by Kent Shook, Head Brewer from One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company.

Nature’s Corner, the host business, invites you to come stroll and support the artists, the shops, and the community. We are always hearing about the importance of shopping locally and the June ArtStroll will showcase some of the local manufacturing capabilities so shop locally can also include “made locally”.

Tom Butler, a member of Smoking Waters Art Guild, explained his latest “made locally” venture.

“Eagle Engraving, a part of Flying Eagle Gallery, has developed a fun new thing for DIYers, using laser engraving techniques to create inexpensive screens that work nicely for screen printing and stencils,” he said. “I’m constantly working to push the limits of my laser engraver. Now, with the help of other local artists, Eagle Engraving has been making screens and printing unique shirts”.

Artists participating in this month’s Stroll include Marilyn Kohler, who returns to Thermopolis to show and sell her paintings. Andrea Linn and Friends will also be demonstrating knitting and crocheting and other needle arts.

Debbie Stroppel’s photography will be on the south side of Broadway again this month.  Her work derives from her European travels, as well as wonderful works of Wyoming subjects.

Look for rug hooker Emily Keith, with her distinctive techniques and colors. Susan Turnbull will also have a variety of quilts on display.

Stroll on the north side of Broadway and enjoy Claudia Eichhorn’s photography and mixed media at Host Business Nature’s Corner.

StillStrollingSaturday is a good time to revisit downtown Thermopolis.

Kent Shook will do an alcohol-free demonstration on beer brewing at The Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Stollers are encouraged to pick up a map at any Stroll business to find the location of artists. Return the map to the host business, Nature’s Corner, 530 Broadway, at the end of Friday evening’s Stroll to be entered to win a piece of art work donated by the artists.

The Second Friday ArtStroll/Still Strolling Saturday is organized by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation and Smoking Waters Art Guild with additional support from Main Street Thermopolis, Hot Springs Travel & Tourism and local businesses and individuals.
