Another area Shopko set to close in May

Worland’s Shopko is the latest victim of the corporation’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be closing its doors on May 12.

The store received word they would be shutting down last week amid the company’s Chapter 11 restructuring that was filed in December.

Worland joins the Thermopolis store, which has a closing date of April 7, along with Greybull (March 2), Lander (May 5), Green River and Mountain View (May 12) as well as the pharmacy portion of the Powell store.

This recent round of closures added another 139 stores to the corporation’s closing. The main offices of Shopko are hoping they can restructure their debt through Chapter 11 and come out whole by April 15.

The initial bankruptcy filing was made as the company owed their pharmaceutical suppliers $67 million in unpaid bills.
