On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Friday, Jan. 9

2:39 p.m. Deputy was called to assist the Department of Family Services with a urine analysis and home check, though the subject could not be located.

Thursday, Jan. 10

4:29 p.m. Deputy responded to a civil dispute at the fairgrounds about shared property. The deputy separated the parties involved.

8:27 p.m. Following a traffic stop, the deputy detected an odor of alcohol from the driver. The driver was later found to be under the legal limit and was released.

10:35 p.m. A deputy affected a traffic stop after observing a vehicle make several infractions. Shaun D. Cox was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Saturday, Jan. 12

10:14 a.m. Subject reported fraudulent charges to her bank card. The matter is under investigation.

Sunday, Jan. 13

2:08 a.m. A female subject arrested on a previous possession charge was cited for possession for bringing a small amount of a white crystalline substance to the detention center.

Monday, Jan. 14

9:25 p.m. Nicholas Powell was arrested for alleged sexual assault.

Tuesday, Jan. 8

3:31 a.m. Officer responded to a report of shoplifting. The suspect was located and cited.

4:49 a.m. A driver was cited after ramming another vehicle.

8:03 a.m. Complainant reported damage to a building that appeared to be caused by a vehicle hitting it.

7:20 p.m. Caller reported a disturbance at a neighbor’s house. The involved subjects were contacted and separated.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

2:20 p.m. Report of a dog at large.

9:59 p.m. Following a traffic stop, marijuana was found in a vehicle. Two subjects were cited for possession of a controlled substance.

Thursday, Jan. 10

12:30 p.m. Report of a vehicle driving in the parking lane. The suspect vehicle could not be located.

4:15 p.m. During a dispute over property, one of the subjects felt threatened and was advised to call law enforcement if there were any issues.

Friday, Jan. 11

12:51 a.m. Teresa M. Velasquez was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

1:52 a.m. Complainant reported a subject was driving under the influence. The report was unfounded.

2:43 p.m. Subject reported receiving threatening texts. The two involved parties were told to not have any further contact with each other.

5:39 p.m. Complainant wanted a subject trespassed from the property.

7:13 p.m. Candice R. Griffin and Hanna S. Celmer were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

Saturday, Jan. 12

12:01 a.m. A subject was cited for violating probation.

8:53 p.m. David K. Lamont Jr. and Ashley A. Leary were arrested for alleged possession of controlled substances.

Sunday. Jan. 13

5:01 p.m. Report of issues with a female subject. The caller was advised of resources available.

6:40 p.m. Report of a missing subject, who was later found.

Monday, Jan. 14

12:09 p.m. Report of a suspicious object in a hospital rest room. The object was a plastic bag that had no contents, and it was disposed of properly.

5:54 p.m. Report of a water tank lost off a truck. The tank was moved to get it out of the traffic lane.

Birth

Buster Karl Simon was born Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in Salmon, Idaho, to Roni Gillespie and Jim Simon.

He weighed 9 pounds and was 20 inches long.
