Dakota Jack Wedor, 19, passed away November 29, 2018.

He was born October 7, 1999, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Jack Carpenter and Karen Wedor. Dakota attended school in Thermopolis, Wyo., from kindergarten until receiving his high school diploma in 2018. He accomplished many honor roll and principal honor roll certificates for his grades and received numerous awards and medal due to his many talents.

Dakota participated in Scout Troop 5053 and SEEK (Students Exploring Expanding Knowledge) Program. While in the SEEK Program he worked on a project for endangered animals that was put into the Meeteetse Museum during the 30th anniversary of the Black Footed Ferret. He and his fellow teammates brought home a first place trophy to Ralph Witters Elementary FLL lego league team. He also enjoyed participating and competing in Destination Imagination. He also played football and soccer. He was recognized by the mayor of Worland, for assisting with others his age in moving 12,000 pounds of dirt by hand near downtown. He excelled in whatever he participated in and assisted with.

He enjoyed camping and loved fishing. He had a way of making others laugh and bringing joy to others. His greatest joy in life was spending time with friends and family.

Dakota is survived by his mother, Karen Wedor of Thermopolis; sisters, June Wedor of Thermopolis and Amanda Cascaden of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandparents, Terry and Connie Stahl of Colorado Springs; aunt, Manda Trujillo of Colorado Springs; cousins, Patrick Bailey and Brian and Taylor Stahl, all of Colorado Springs, and numerous uncles and other family members.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Carpenter; grandfather, Dewey Carpenter; grandmother, Verla Sands; uncles, John Carpenter, Shane Wedor and Don Ditmer.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 20, at the school auditorium with Mike Muench officiating. A memorial fund in Dakota's name has been set up at Big Horn Federal.
