Ronald C. Simmons

Ronald C. Simmons, 55, of Cozad passed away December 17, 2018, at the Cozad Community Hospital.

Ron was born September 8, 1963, in Vinita, Okla. He graduated from high school in Thermopolis, Wyo. Ron worked in the oil fields in Wyoming for a short time. He married Vicky Deromedi on July 24, 1982, in Thermopolis and they were blessed with two sons, Brandon and Jared. The couple moved to Holly, Colo., and he started his career in the feedlot industry. In 1991, they moved to Wellington, Colo., where Ron worked at Horton Feedlot and Research Center. Their final move was to Cozad, Neb. Ron started as Head Cowboy, 21 years ago at HiGain Feedlot in Cozad, working his way to Yard Manager. Ron was a dedicated provider who excelled in horsemanship and anything else he tried. He had a tremendous work ethic. His passions were horses, cars and mechanizing, until he became a grandfather. His grandchildren and family were his world.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Simmons of Cozad; sons, Brandon (Kimmie) Simmons of Cozad and Jared (Caitlyn) Simmons of Bellevue, Neb.; mother, Bernadette Brock of Hermitage, Mo.; brothers, Devlin (Jennifer) Paylor of Hermitage, Mo., Ralph (Christa) Simmons of Tishomingo, Okla., Rick Simmons of Carthage, Mo., and Shayne (Joleene) Simmons of Osceola, Mo.; grandchildren, Charlee and Wesley Simmons of Cozad and Jaycee and Amelia Simmons of Bellevue; father-and mother-in-law, William and Ann Deromedi of Thermopolis; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Simmons.

Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to the family in his name for later designation. Services will be Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Cozad Cemetery.
