To all a good night

We’re sure you’ll notice a little extra bulk in your paper this week, thanks to our annual printing of the Letters to Santa. While it’s quite a busy time at the Thermopolis Independent Record getting all those letters typed up — mistakes and all — before they’re shipped on to the North Pole, it’s also one of the best.

Reading over the wishes of our community’s youth helps revive some of that Christmas Spirit when it’s less than a week from the big day and holiday shopping has run us down. Even though our fingers might get tired, our hearts get lifted by the asking for a certain toy or even just for family and friends to have a great holiday.

Take the time to read through the requests, and even have a bit of fun trying to decipher exactly what some of the letters are trying to say. If you happen to know one or more of the writers, you might even want to give Santa a hand. If not, you might let them know you saw their letters in print and light up their eyes a bit. Who knows? You might even get inspired to drop a note to the big red guy yourself?

While the warmer temperatures lately have been nice for sledding, hiking and other outdoor activities, it might keep a white Christmas away. But whether that idyllic scene is on your wish list or not, we here at the Independent Record want to express our appreciation to all our readers and wish you all a Merry Christmas!
