School lunch week activities

Next week Hot Springs County schools will be celebrating National School Lunch Week, Oct. 16-19.

Tammy Redland, head cook at the high school, said this week the students are taking an online survey to determine what their favorite lunch is, and that choice will be served next Wednesday.

At Ralph Witters Elementary (RWE), head cook Jean Anderson has a few things planned for the little eaters.

On Tuesday, they will be serving kid’s choice. Anderson said they think the winner of their favorite meal will be pizza since they make it all from scratch.

Wednesday the breakfast at RWE will be Long Johns and the kids will be getting ice cream as a treat on Thursday.

They are also having a coloring contest at RWE and the winners will be announced on Friday morning.

Three students will also be chosen to help the lunch crew serve lunch on Friday.
