Moore named director

As of last Thursday, Trenda Moore has been named director of the Hot Springs County Senior Center. Moore said the decision came from the board, though she had been serving as interim director since the resignation of Lisa Pierce earlier this year. After things got a bit settled, Moore said, she chose to apply for the director position.

Moore has been with the senior center for 16 years, starting as a sub in the kitchen, then being a janitor for a year and then a case manager. She has lived in Thermopolis for 38 years.

“For me, it’s all about the people,” Moore said of her focus, “and taking care of their needs. That’s what it’s always been about for me.”

Regarding the ongoing renovation at the center, Moore said the next phase is the restrooms, and they are just beginning to work on the logistics for funding. She noted funding and grants is the only area of the center she really hasn’t worked with so it’s been a huge learning curve.

Moore wants to keep the center the best they can for the people, and said the staff is of utmost important and wonderful. She’s hopeful the young staff members will stay on and take over the center in later years.
