Stanford 'Butch' Moore, Jr.

Stanford William "Butch" Moore, Jr., 67, of Maysville, Okla., passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018, in Norman, Okla.

He was born on March 28, 1951, in Wilson, Okla., to Stanford W. Moore and Dollie Geneva (Walden) Moore. Stan, or Butch as most of his family knew him, was raised in Thermopolis, Wyo., graduating from Hot Springs County High School. He obtained a College Degree in Science from Casper Wyoming College and attended Ham Operating Tech School. 

In 1979 he moved from Wyoming to Maysville, Okla. Butch was a writer of various science fiction and western books, an electronic geek, ham operator, and was very adventurous. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, watching westerns on television, reading books, and traveling with his furry companions, Duke and Bandit.

He is survived by his sisters, Lavon Wheeler of Bountiful, Utah, Norma Sue McLain of Oklahoma City, and Carolyn J. Canady of Elmore City; brothers, Ron Maynes of Quinam, Wash., and Tom Moore of Thermopolis, Wyo .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanford and Geneva Moore; sister, Virginia Moore; and brothers, Hank Moore, James Branum, and Ben Branum.

Moore's ashes will be taken to Wyoming and a memorial service for family and friends in Oklahoma will be held at a later date at the Maysville Cemetery. His arrangements were entrusted to Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Okla. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at http://www.winansfuneralhome.com
