On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Thursday, Feb. 15

10:13 p.m. Report of an accident in the Wind River Canyon. A driver hit a patch of ice and ran off the road. There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed with arrangements to pick it up later.

Friday, Feb. 16

9:07 a.m. Two subjects were arguing over possession of a bank card, and were advised to contact the issuer.

1:24 p.m. Request for assistance with a reportedly unsafe subject north of town.

Saturday, Feb. 17

9:37 p.m. Kelly L. McMillan was arrested for alleged interference with an officer. Tony J. SoRelle was arrested for alleged probation violation and possession of a controlled substance. Walter D. Bruckner was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance and interference with an officer.

Monday, Feb. 19

7:57 a.m. Report of property damage at a business south of town. It was unknown if there was any vandalism or stolen items.

3:29 p.m. Report from the Red Lane area that a subject had driven into a yard that had “no trespassing” signs posted. The driver was later contacted and said he was only turning around. However, he was cited for trespassing.

Tuesday, Feb. 13

10:55 a.m. Report of phone fraud. No money or personal information was exchanged.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

12:14 a.m. Report of a juvenile stealing several items.

5:21 p.m. Report of a semi blocking traffic on Shoshoni. Traffic control was provided while the truck was moved.

Thursday, Feb. 15

9:25 p.m. Jeremy C. Smith was arrested for alleged probation violation.

Friday, Feb. 16

2:44 a.m. Greg B. Lea was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

9:09 p.m. Subject found a suspicious item in a mailbox. The owner of the item was later located.

Saturday, Feb. 17

3:35 a.m. Report of a possible break in. A homeowner found the front door open, though nothing was missing.

7:30 p.m. Hit and run accident at the cattle guard by the armory and fairgrounds.

Sunday, Feb. 18

5:15 p.m. Report of a trailer hitting a gas meter. The gas company was notified and the fire department plugged the meter.

5:34 p.m. Officer responded to a domestic dispute. Lashaunna A. Vollan was arrested for alleged domestic battery and strangulation of a household member.

Monday, Feb. 19

9:17 a.m. Complainant reported his vehicle had been egged.

3:42 p.m. Report of a vehicle spinning cookies. Contact was made with the driver.

8:57 p.m. A vehicle slid into the street sign at 14th and Amoretti. The damage was less than $1,000, and town maintenance crews were notified.

Circuit court

Sean Stehlin was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 89 days suspension and six months of unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $60

Dakota Wedor was bound over to district court on two counts of burglary and two counts of theft under $1,000.

David A. Roberson was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 90 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $255.

Carol W. Pickett was found guilty of breach of peace and was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 10 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.

Jared A. Michel was found guilty of being under 21 with a measurable blood-alcohol content and was sentenced to two days in jail. Fees and fines are $55.
