Carol Cassell

Carol J. Cassell (Norman), 80, of Knapp, Wis., passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at her home in Knapp, Wis., surrounded by family after a 10-year struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

She was born August 15, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to George Thomas Norman and Helen Jeanette (Wildey). In 1948, Carol and her family moved from Chicago to Tomahawk, Wisc. The Cassells lived in Thermopolis from 1975-1981, when Dr. Cassell was superintendent of schools.

Carol was a devout Christian and supportive wife. She had a sparkling and engaging personality, a delightful curious mind; she loved singing, cooking, sewing, knitting, photography, bird watching, was an avid reader, loved to plan and travel. Every family trip was a lesson in history, geography, and sociology as Carol researched every location and sights along the way, so she could share what she learned with her beloved family.

She is survived by her husband, George, W .; daughter, Susan (Paul) Pelletier; son, George W., Jr. (Sharon), their nine children and spouses, and eight grandchildren; son, Robert (Joyce) and four children; sister, Janet (David) Johnson; brother, Donald (Maryann) Norman; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Ed and Richard.
