Bicentennial Park decorating Sunday

The Christmas Committee will be decorating Bicentennial Park this Sunday, Nov. 12, beginning at 2 p.m. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Meri Ann Rush said they will finish decorating the downtown area on Saturday, Nov. 18, when volunteers will be hanging the large lights around town. She noted on Nov. 18 the Christmas Committee serves the volunteers breakfast with food donated from local businesses.

With regard to helping with the decoration on Nov. 12, Rush said if someone shows up and wants to help they won’t be turned away. People can also call the Chamber office at 864-3192 if they want to help.

People also have the opportunity to sponsor and decorate poles downtown.

The cost is $50 per pole, and sponsors will be recognized through plaques put on the poles. Sponsorship money goes to the decorations, and the hope is to purchase decorations that can withstand the weather for a few years.

People can contact the Chamber if they want to decorate a pole. Rush hopes to have them all decorated by Nov. 25, but would not turn anyone away if they want to sponsor a pole after that.
