Flying solo

Baylee Shaffer and Aaron Hanson were among the soloists performing at the North Big Horn Basin Music Festival, hosted in Thermopolis last week. Shaffer earned a Superior vocal rating, and Hanson earned a Superior vocal rating and an Excellent flute rating. Band and Choir Director Gerry Burton stated the festival "was a huge project and the support was amazing." Burton also stated the concert band earned Excellent and High Excellent ratings across the board. He noted this is amazing, knowing two thirds of the group are freshmen and sophomores. Additional Thermopolis results from the festival include: Concert Choir - Excellent and Superior; Women's Choir - Superior; Men's Group - Superior; Allie Burton - Superior Vocal; Brock Tillack - Superior Vocal; Taylor Smith - Excellent Vocal; Savana Meiers - Superior Vocal; Taydee Landrum - Excellent Vocal; Danielle Randolph - Excellent Vocal Katie Burrows - Superior Vocal; Chauncey Morris - Superior Vocal; Dani Pebbles - Excellent Vocal; Morris and Ashley Brawley - Superior Vocal Duet; and Deanna Owings - Superior Vocal. Burton said the results were great, as most of the students had never performed a solo, especially for a judge.
