Richard 'Rick' Phipps

Richard "Rick" Lewis Phipps, 71, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, Mont.

He was born August 16, 1944, in Luling, Texas. Raised in Sacramento, Calif., he graduated from McClatchy High School in 1962. He attended both Sacramento State University and the University of Oregon.

Rick moved to Thermopolis in 1999. He drove truck for Nielson Oil. He was best known in the community for his love of music and playing his guitar any chance he could.

He is survived by children, Justin Phipps and Rebecca (Becca) Phipps and their mother Rachel; and his estranged wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Esther Phipps and a daughter, Julianne Phipps.

A memorial will be held Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Thermopolis.
