A giving community

Thermopolis seems to be filled with community-minded individuals, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Whether it’s helping someone back out of a parking space into the most heavily-trafficked street in town or helping to push someone’s car to Maverik when they run out of gas, there are always residents willing to go that extra mile for someone.

Community organizations and their members also put the needs of others and the needs of the community front and center. They organize beautification projects and activities to enhance the social life of this small town. They emphasize the arts and culture as well as sports and academia. Efforts of individuals are praised while more efforts are made to enhance the community as a whole.

Owners of restaurants and businesses provide tourists with insights into the spectacular town in which we live. They give advice and share stories of their favorite places. They give directions and offer maps and Visitors Guides when available. They help in any way they possibly can.

Transplants are greeted with open arms and help moving their furniture into their new home. Longtime residents encourage new residents to become involved in the community in whatever way best suits them.

Even those not involved in groups and organizations help their fellow man. They offer advice when prompted. They provide an ear to listen. Or they simply provide a friendly wave or smile. Kindness is abundant in every corner of this tiny town.

If it weren’t for the World’s Largest Mineral Hot Spring or the Wyoming Dinosaur Center, Thermopolis might be known as the most helpful community in America.
