School enrollment stays up at 654

Enrollment in the Hot Springs County School District has increased from 610 at the end of the 2014-15 school year to 654 at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

The enrollment in the majority of grades has also increased. First grade enrollment has increased from 41 students at the end of the 2014-15 school year to 48 students at the end of this year. Third grade has increased from 46 students last year to 51 students this year. Fourth grade has increased from 39 students to 54 students. Sixth grade has increased from 41 students to 46 students. Eighth grade has increased from 53 students to 65 students. Ninth grade has increased from 53 students to 63 students. Eleventh grade has increased from 43 to 52 students and twelfth grade has increased from 36 to 46 students.

Despite the overall increase in students, enrollment decreased in a few grades. Kindergarten enrollment decreased from 48 in the 2014-15 school year to 46 this year. Second grade decreased from 47 to 42 students. Fifth grade decreased from 48 to 44 students. Seventh grade decreased from 61 to 45 students and tenth grade decreased from 54 to 52 students.
