County unemployment decreases slightly

The Hot Springs County seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 5.6 percent in February to 5.2 percent in March according to data from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. A year ago in March the unemployment rate in the county was 4.7 percent.

In March there were 122 people unemployed in the county, down from 131 in February.

The total labor force in HSC went up from 2,342 in February to 2,347 in March. In March of 2015 the labor force in HSC was 2,405.

Wyoming's state seasonally adjusted unemployment rate jumped to 5.2 percent in March, up from 5.0 percent in February.

Wyoming's unemployment is considerable higher than it's March 2015 level of 3.9 percent, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The figures show the effect of the downturn in the oil, coal and natural gas industries in the state. The current U.S. unemployment rate is 5.0 percent.
