ArtStroll includes poetry, gifts, Apocalypse Art

February’s Second Friday ArtStroll and Still Strolling Saturday includes an art activity, love poems and sweetheart gifts. The stroll is Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday during regular business hours at participating businesses.

Debbie Stroppel will have photography on display at this month’s host business, Owl Creek Graphics.

Pick up a map showing you what is available at each participating business. Be sure to return your completed map to the host business at the end of Friday evening’s stroll.

Several activities will take place at the Hot Springs County Museum Friday evening and Saturday.

Dick Hall will recite love poems and cowboy poetry. Also at the museum will be Claudia Augustin, photography; Lynn Burton, fairy babies and fun gift items; Jennifer Taylor, handmade goat soaps; Jennie Blakesley, jewelry and Terry Sani, bird decoys.

Cory Whitt will be February’s featured artist. Whitt makes roses from silk and other materials and is just starting to build her business. Other textile artists include Andrea Linn, Joyce Fletcher, Jane Oldridge.

Brendan Liam, from Laramie, will present an Apocalypse Art Show. On Friday evening at 6 p.m. Liam will give a presentation: “Somewhere between fine art and street art, between faith and fiction, and from a future in the past, Art of the Apocalypse”. This unique form of art will amaze viewers and may draw out emotions not usually felt when viewing art. The Art of the Apocalypse show will be on display until the end of February.

The stroll welcomes Tess Lackey to the lineup. Lackey will have charcoal & graphite art on display. Sallie Wesaw will be in her studio and will talk about painting and mixed media art. Mike Howland will join Wesay to provide music Friday evening.

Cindy Toth will be showing textiles and Mona Wilson will display her painåtings on vintage items and gifts for your sweethearts. Harold Hutson & Michael Wright will be providing live music during the stroll.

Enjoy the art of Gayle Phipps who will have oil, pastel, and photography on display — plus raspberry jams for sale. Rick Phipps & Shawn McWilliams will also be providing music.

Friday evening and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be the monthly art activity. Come to the workshop and go home with a picture you can hang on the wall. Bring a frame, a picture, a screwdriver and any matting material you may choose to use and Smoking Waters Art Guild member Claudia Augustin will show you how to put it all together. Some materials will be available for a fee.

 Still Strolling Saturday continues with sweetheart deals in downtown businesses and other things for you and all your Valentines to enjoy. Stroll to the Hot Springs County library from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for the Chocolate Lover’s Party. Enjoy live music by Harold Hutson as you and your sweetheart enjoy a plate of chocolate. Plates cost $5 and proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library.

 Saturday evening at 8 p.m. a Sweetheart’s Sip and Paint will be available. Cost is $35 per seat, which includes all the material you will need to take home your painting of “Snowy Night” on a growler.
