Daphine Huckman

Daphine Huckman, 95, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2015, at her residence, in the Wyoming Pioneer Home.

Born April 13, 1920, in Frost, Texas, she was the daughter of Jesse and Linnie (Cagle) Cleveland. She grew up helping support her family by picking cotton during the Great Depression. In 1939, she graduated from high school in Dawson, Texas.

She married John A. Huckman, Sr. in 1941. To this union was born five children whom she loved unconditionally. After the death of her husband in 1972, she continued to reside in Texas until moving to Thermopolis in 1997 where she resided at the Senior Village Apartments, then the Wyoming Pioneer Home.

Her interests included jigsaw and crossword puzzles and while at the Pioneer Home she learned to play shuffleboard and Wii bowling. She was a woman with a zest for life.

She is survived by sons, John (Karlene) A. Huckman, Jr. of Thermopolis and Edward (Pam) Huckman of Bastrop, Texas; daughter, Brenda (Ron) Newton of Richardson, Texas; sister, Joyce Harrison of Sherman, Texas; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Diane Huckman; and sisters, Genelle and Nevaline.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Wyoming Pioneer Home. Inurnment will take place in January in Victoria, Texas, where she will rest by her husband.
