Community Church hosts sanctuary anniversary service

The Community Church invites everyone to the 60th anniversary of their sanctuary Sunday, Nov. 1 at the 10:30 a.m. service. The district superintendent of the United Methodist Church, Reverend Jeff Rainwater, will help with the celebration. Following the service at 11:30 a.m. there will be a reception for the community. Rainwater will lead the congregation in their annual meeting following the reception.

One hundred and seventeen years ago Pastor Louise C. Thompson came to Thermopolis to build a new church in an unchartered community. It was dedicated in 1900. In 1921, the congregation voted to become federated between the Methodists and Presbyterians. In 1955, Pastor Peter Barbour dedicated a new sanctuary addition.

This year the congregation is refurbishing the sanctuary and rededicating it for the glory of God. They will also dedicate their new accessibility including parking and a lift.
