Bobcats victorious against Burns

After dropping their first two games of the season, the Bobcat football team was victorious for the second week in a row, this time against Burns 20-16.

The Bobcats, now an even 2-2 overall and 2-1 in 2A East regional play, “Had to overcome some adversity to pull out the win,” according to coach Rob Anderson.

“We did not play as well as we had hoped,” Anderson said, adding that the team “turned the ball over in scoring positions and gave up a couple of big plays late in the game.”

Besides the win, Anderson had other positive news to share. After struggling the first two games, the Bobcat running game has improved greatly since the beginning of the season.

“We ran the ball very well, averaging eight yards a carry and ending with 359 total rushing yards.” Senior running back Tyler Cornwell had 217 of the team’s 359 yards and was crucial in leading the team to victory for a second week in a row. Cornwell has run the ball for 355 yards the last two games.

The Bobcats, ranked third in the 2A East, will host Big Horn this Friday for the team’s 2015 Homecoming. The Big Horn Rams are 1-1 in regional play and 3-1 overall. “We are excited heading into this week, being able to be home and in front of our fans,” Anderson said.
