Shirley Morgan, president of the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital auxiliary, describes her service to the auxiliary as a “circle of life”, volunteerism supports the hospital staff, which in turn helps members of this community. Local scout troops will be holding a community food drive on Saturday, Nov. 14 to benefit the Community Food Bank and the Christmas Basket program. An organizational meeting for the solar eclipse will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Days Inn. The eclipse is on August 21, 2017 but plans are already being made, as central Wyoming is one of the most desired areas to view the eclipse from. Rosalee Dawn Johnson, 19, of Aurora, Colo., was arraigned earlier this month in Fifth Judicial District Court after allegedly steeling $50, 000 in cash from a Thermopolis residence. According to a sworn affidavit, a Thermopolis resident reported that several of her medications and $50,000 in cash was stolen from her residence in June. The Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital has ordered a new fetal heart monitor, a critical piece of equipment to help save the lives of babies in Hot Springs County. The process of acquiring a new fetal heart monitor started about a year ago in Oct. 2014, when the Hospital Foundation Board challenged the Thermopolis community to raise half of the $30,000 price tag. A number of exciting moves toward the future were made during a busy Main Street Thermopolis meeting on Oct. 22. The meeting opened with discussion about the Main Street Thermopolis ornaments, which depict the Klink Building and are the first of the group’s yearly ornament series, which will feature local historical treasures. Hot Springs County Library director Tracey Kinnaman appealed Friday afternoon to the Hot Springs County commissioners for stop-gap funding to cover the library’s overdrafted bank account. Kinnaman told the commissioners that the library had expended its cash reserves, and the funding issue was not a budgetary one but simply a cash flow problem.
