    Though the summer’s rodeo and demolition derby events have come and gone, and the Gymkhana series has finished for the year, Hot Springs County Fairgrounds will still see plenty of activity in the coming months.     Before those severe aches and pains, fatigue, headache, sore throat and runny nose hit, be sure to get an annual flu shot. Hot Springs County Public Health will be holding a flu shot clinic on Wed., Oct. 11 from 7 a.m. til 3 p.m.. Please bring your health insurance card with you as they will bill Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, First Choice, Cinga, CNIC and United Health Care.     The Friends of the Library are gearing up for their annual Fall Book and Bake Sale, set for Friday, Oct. 13 and 14. On Friday evening, there will be a plethora of books available for purchase at the armory along with baked goodies from 5-7 p.m. Things will continue on Saturday morning, starting at 8 a.m. and run until noon. If you have books you would like to donate to the sale, they may be dropped off at the armory prior to Oct. 13....

    According to statistics from the American Cancer Society, among US women in 2017, there will be an estimated 252,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 40,610 breast cancer deaths. At Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital, staff and programs are available for early detection of breast cancer, as well as treatment.     It was another successful year for the Hunting with Heroes program in Thermopolis. Friday at the VFW was an exciting scene for those involved, as 11 hunters from across Wyoming and the United States came to the VFW to register, visit and meet their guides in anticipation of the antelope hunt in Areas 76 and 83 on Saturday.
