A former archaeologist, Bressler switched gears and began taking pictures about 20 years ago. He described the sudden career change a...

They might not have been flying - except for the trip over - but 10 riding Dutchmen had a brief stop in Thermopolis for breakfast and a refuel Thursday morning. At this time of year, with the weather perfect for riding, and of course the Sturgis rally coming up, motorcycles are becoming a more common sight around town. However, the Dutch riders turned plenty of heads with their Harley-Davidsons, as people caught a brief glimpse of history. That's because these Harleys are from World War II....

I know it’s a bit cliché to say I’m thankful for the kindness of strangers, but over the past couple days, I really can’t find the words to describe some awesome events. I guess it’s pretty fitting that my wife and I took the kids to see “Finding Dory” Monday evening, a movie about relying on strangers’ kindness to find what was once lost. Following the show, my oldest was obsessed with playing the claw machine, and was a bit impatient. However, a sweet girl gave up two of her turns so he co...

The community is invited to attend “Tragedy to Triumph,” the Dave Roever Story next week at the Thermopolis High School Auditorium. A decorated veteran with a passion for public speaking who was called to ministry as a teen, Roever received his draft notice at the height of the Vietnam War. Having no desire to serve in the infantry, he joined the U.S. Navy out of Bible college, as a riverboat gunner. He emphasized that though he was trained and served with Seal Team One, he was a member of the...

Tuesday evening, the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees approved budgets for the year starting July 1. Chief Financial Officer Shelly Larson explained earlier this year the budget had to be sent to the County, which approves the amount it will fund to the hospital. In addition, Larson noted, there were major contracts with physicians that were going on — Red Rock Family practice for the emergency department and...

The ordinance is being put in place as a result of the considerable amount of vandalism being done to the park... Full story

For a few brief minutes next year, the moon will pass in front of the sun. The 2017 Solar Eclipse will attract thousands of visitors; already there are population booms expected locally and in the area around Thermopolis, dow...

Among those on the ballot for the State Senate, 20th District, is Wyoming native Jane Norskog, who said she’s always been politically active behind the scenes since the days of Jimmy Carter, and was a Young Democrat in high school and in college. In addition to helping with several elections, Norskog also was chosen as a federal grand jurist, and over 18 months heard 300 cases and helped decide whether there was enough evidence in each to go to trial. During that time, she said, she got some f...

Though the tournament officially ended July 10, it began April 9; the event lasts several weeks, in order to provide the 20,000-plus entrants this year the opportunities...

The past week saw an average of a fire every day for the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department.
