Arrests in morning drug incidents

Two incidents which happened in the early morning hours of July 1 resulted in the arrests of three subjects on drug-related charges.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Regina Schulmeister said she performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near mile marker 135 on Highway 20 North, just after midnight. There were three adults as well as three juveniles in the vehicle, she said, noting a female adult was attempting to hide in the backseat. That subject repeatedly gave her a false name as well.

Sculmeister requested assistance at the stop, and Hot Springs County Deputy Jerimie Kraushaar responded.

Kraushaar said when he responded at the scene, a male subject — Christopher Decker of Worland — was out of the vehicle, though the female subject was still in the back seat. Using Facebook, the deputy was able to determine the female subject was Holly Herrera of Worland. Verifying her identity with the registration of the vehicle, Kraushaar was also aware Herrera had an active warrant out for her. Decker was also found to have a warrant on him.

Upon a search of the vehicle, Schulmeister located a bag of suspected methamphetamine. A glass smoking pipe was also found in Herrera’s makeup bag. Decker was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. Herrera was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, interference with a peace officer and a Washakie County warrant. The juveniles were turned over to the Department of Family Services.

While assisting at the stop, Kraushaar said he received a call from dispatch in regard to a female subject walking on the highway, just three-quarters of a mile from his location, on Hospital Hill. As the juveniles were in his vehicle at the time, Kraushaar put out a request for assistance.

The walking female subject was stopped by Ken Lloyd, a ranger with the BLM, prior to Kraushaar’s arrival. Upon contact, the subject, identified as Ambra O’Brien of Kirby, kept fidgeting with a pocket on her clothing. Upon further questioning, she revealed she had a burnt marijuana roach, as well as a container of ground up prescription medicine and a pocketknife. In a bag in her possession, there were also 15 oxycodone pills and a grinder, another marijuana roach and a box that contained money and five tabs of LSD.

O’Brien was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
