On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest. Names of minors are not printed.

Sheriff’s office

Monday, Feb. 16

7:04 a.m. Agency assist for the for the police department.

11:56 p.m. Report of a basketball sized rock in the middle of the road on Highway 20 South at mile marker 122. The rock was removed from the road.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

4:09 p.m. A deputy located a wounded deer that posed a traffic hazard. The deer was put down with permission from Game and Fish.

5:47 p.m. A deputy performed a welfare check on a car that slid off the highway in the Wind River Canyon.

Friday, Feb. 20

1:10 p.m. A deputy served a civil papers for a writ of execution that took place in the Park Street area.

4:20 p.m. A deputy served some civil papers for eviction on Fremont Street.

Saturday, Feb. 21

9:09 a.m. Report of civil dispute on Sunny View Drive. The parties were separated.

4:41 p.m. A deputy responded to a family domestic on Highway 120. Robert Gene Ross, 79, was arrested for alleged domestic battery, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Monday, Feb. 16

7:04 Multiple reports were received of vehicles broken into in the Thermopolis area. The case has juvenile involvement and is currently under investigation.

Tuesday, Feb. 17

5:21 p.m. Two dogs were found running at large in the area of 6th and Amoretti. The dogs were impounded. The owner was later identified and cited for dogs running at large.

Saturday, Feb. 21

9:58 a.m. Report of an unresponsive female.
