On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, Dec. 26

12:16 p.m. Report of a bull on the highway. Deputies pushed the bull back into a pasture. WYDOT was notified and fixed a section of fencing.

1:02 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident that happened earlier in the day. There were no injuries and the vehicle was driveable.

3:52 p.m. Two bulls were reported to be on the highway in the same areas as earlier in the day. Additional sections of damaged fence were found. Both bulls were put back in their pasture. WYDOT responded and fixed the fence and noted they would monitor the fencing in that area.

8:57 p.m. Verbal dispute between two adults. Officers mediated and there were no further problems.

Tuesday, Dec. 27

2:49 p.m. Andrew Meador, 30, was arrested on two Hot Springs County warrants.

4:51 p.m. Report of juveniles walking on the frozen river. The juveniles were contacted and came back to land. They were advised of the dangers of being on frozen rivers and their parents were notified.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

3:16 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a man who was shirtless and yelling. Travis McIntyre, 40, was arrested for allegedly endangering children with methamphetamine in the home, property destruction greater than $1,000, possessing controlled substance (methamphetamine) 2nd offense, reckless endangerment (firearm), use of controlled substance and breach of peace.

3:35 p.m. Report of a dog at large that was injuring and killing livestock. The incident is under investigation.

10:05 p.m. Gregory Oertel, 62, was arrested for alleged DWUI first offense, open container, lane use and no insurance.

10:26 p.m. Report of a hit and run and public property destruction. A citation was given for duty to report and property destruction.

Friday, Dec. 30

10:36 a.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

3:43 p.m. Report of possible fraud of a bank account. The matter is under investigation.

4:30 p.m. Alcohol compliance checks were performed on liquor establishments in Hot Springs County. A local bar failed the compliance check and the employee was given a citation for prohibited alcohol sales to a minor.

Saturday, Dec. 31

1:36 a.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

Sunday, Jan. 1

12:06 a.m. A traffic stop was performed after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver was given a warning.

Monday, Dec. 26

7:14 a.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle with no plates left in the 200 block of South 2nd Street. The vehicle was tagged for 24-hour tow. The registered owner was contacted and advised that he had sold the vehicle over a year before. 

4:19 p.m. Report of inappropriate photos being sent between minors. The case is under investigation. Tuesday, Dec. 27

2:24 p.m. A welfare check was done for a 58-year-old male in the 900 block of South 14th Street after a report that emergency lights were going off on his vehicle. He was contacted and was okay.

4:51 p.m. Report of four male juveniles on the river ice. Police did not respond as it was in East Thermopolis.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

3:12 a.m. The Police Department responded to a report of a man in khaki pants, with no shirt, screaming in the middle of the road in the 800 block of Shoshoni St. Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene first and arrested the male subject.

10:26 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday, Dec. 29

7:00 a.m. Report of a black border collie dog that was struck and killed by a vehicle near mile marker 1 on US Highway 120 West. Owner picked up the dog. 

7:14 a.m. A female contacted police to report that her vehicle was broken into while parked within the 100 block of Warren Street. The female reported that she was missing several CDs and an auxiliary cord. Police took the report and increased patrols in the area. 

1:47 p.m. Report of a dog struck by a vehicle. The driver took it to the vet clinic and the dog died en route. Owner of the dog was notified. 

7:05 p.m. Jocelyn R. White, 19, was discovered to have an alleged active probation arrest and hold order. White was located at her residence and arrested. White was also issued an MIP Tobacco citation after allegedly being caught sneaking a nicotine vape pen into a detention facility. 

11:09 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in the 800 block of Park Street. During this stop, two under age males, 20 and 18, were cited for minors in possession of alcohol, possession and consumption.

Friday, Dec. 30

9:47 a.m. Police responded to a local residence for the report of a 34-year-old female refusing to leave. Upon arrival, police determined this female was allegedly intoxicated and under the influence of methamphetamine. Tabatha June Neujahr, 34, from Tennessee, was arrested for allegedly trespassing, possession of a controlled substance, use of controlled substance, and child endangerment with methamphetamine. During this investigation, police discovered three other adult family members within this household were also in possession of and using controlled substances. Tamara R. Price, 55, was arrested for alleged possession of controlled substances, use of controlled substances, child endangerment with methamphetamine, breach of peace, and interference of a peace officer. The remaining two household members were cited for possession of controlled substances and the use of controlled substances. Police and the Department of Family Services cared for the juveniles within the home until an out-of-state family member arrived to take custody. The family member was tested to ensure they were not using controlled substances. 

5:27 p.m. Police made contact with a 45-year-old female that was reported to be a “Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI) driver. Police determined she was not a drunk driver, but she was found to be driving while under suspension. The driver was cited for DUS, first offense. 

Saturday, Dec. 31

12:06 a.m. Report of a juvenile male who snuck out of his residence without parental knowledge and consent. When the juvenile found out law enforcement was attempting to locate him, the juvenile ran away and refused to come home. Officers were able to locate the juvenile hiding in a shop within Thermopolis. When the juvenile was approached by one of his parents, he physically fought with the parent while he was trying to escape the parent. This juvenile was cited for minor in possession of tobacco. 

5:06 a.m. A juvenile was transported to a group home by police. 

10:19 p.m. A female reported her neighbor was harassing her around the 600 block of South 6th Street. Upon interviewing this female, it was discovered she has PTSD, and the fireworks from the new year’s celebrations around town were bothering her hearing, and making her possibly hear things. This situation was de-escalated. No further action was taken at this time. 

Sunday, Jan. 1

3:56 a.m. A 35-year-old male and 37-year-old female couple from Byron, Wyo., got in a dispute at a local motel within the 100 block of East Park Street. Both subjects were impaired from intoxicating beverages. The couple was separated for the evening with no charges pending. 

Birth

Michael Pebbles was born Friday, December 16, 2022, at Hot Springs Health to Hannah and Kyle Pebbles.

He weighed 6 pounds, 14.5 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Craig and Kelly Jones and Chris and Terrie Pebbles.
