On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, April 18

6:38 p.m. Report of an agency assist involving deputies who responded to a request from Probation and Parole. Brandon Reo Boren, 36, was arrested for alleged probation sanction.

6:28 p.m. Report of an agency assist involving a deputy who met with Washakie County Sheriff’s Office at the County Line to obtain medication for an infant being life-flighted. Medication was transported to Hot Springs Health.

Tuesday, April 19

1:14 p.m. Landon Benjamin Hammell Lengfelder, 19, from Powell, was arrested on a warrant in Cody and brought to Hot Springs County. His original charges were minor in possession of tobacco and alcohol and minor purchasing alcohol.  

Friday, April 22

7:26 p.m. Report of suspicious activity involving gunshots heard in the area of Mack’s Market. The deputy searched the area and found no signs of any gunshots. 

Saturday, April 23

8:42 a.m. Report of a welfare check involving a 49-year-old male. The male subject was later reported to be fine.

Sunday, April 24

1:16 p.m. Report of stalking involving a 49-year-old male who won’t stop contacting a 38-year-old female. The deputy told the male subject to stop. The matter is still under investigation. 

Police Department

Monday, April 18

10:30 a.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a 53-year-old female who was seeking permission to take her service dog into an establishment. 

6:08 p.m. Report of a traffic offense involving a 20-year-old female traveling south on Big Springs Road with three small children freely roaming in the bed of the truck. Upon making contact with the 20-year-old driver, the officer discovered she did not have a license and as a result; she was cited for the lack of a driver’s license. 

Tuesday, April 19

6:41 p.m. Report of a vehicle fire involving a flatbed trailer filled with various construction waste materials spontaneously caught fire within the 700 block of Washakie Street. The trailer was parked in a driveway, directly in front of a detached residential garage. The initial officer on scene pulled the fully involved burning trailer to the center of the driveway, thus eliminating the fire threat to the garage. The fire was then snuffed out with a police fire extinguisher. 

7:34 p.m. Alicia Archambault, 37, was arrested for alleged DUI. During the DUI investigation, the female was in possession of an opened container of alcohol (within a moving vehicle); she resisted arrest; and escaped from official detention. As soon as she attempted to flee, the police caught and apprehended her again. 

Wednesday, April 20

10:57 a.m. Report of property crimes involving a property owner who found a broken window in the 300 block of Arapahoe Street. There are no suspects at this time. 

4:26 p.m. Report of a traffic accident involving a 70-year-old male who parked his truck in a parking lot and ran into a parked car, causing more than $1000.00 in damage. 

6:21 p.m. Report of a conversation involving a 39-year-old male caught camping on Dirty Jack Road in the Hot Springs County State Park. He was verbally warned for camping and vacated the area. 

Thursday, April 21

12:56 p.m. Report of an accident involving a 52-year-old male backing his vehicle out of his parking spot into a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old female. The male subject was warned for improper backing in the 500 Block of Broadway.

12:53 p.m. Report of fraud involving a 76-year-old male who was charged $3,000 for a service he didn’t request. The suspects took over his computer and threatened if he didn’t pay, they would lock him out. The suspects were unable to lock him out and his credit card company was notified. 

5:12 p.m. Report of trespassing and criminal entry involving a 57-year-old male who reported to law enforcement that a 62-year-old male was residing at a residence he had been evicted from at a trailer park. Salahuddin Najar, 62, was arrested for alleged criminal trespass and criminal entry. 

7:39 p.m. Report of an animal attack involving a 75-year-old male who was bit by a dog in the parking lot of a motel. The dog’s owner, a 43-year-old female, was cited for harboring a vicious dog, and her dog was to be quarantined for 10 days. 

10:09 p.m. Report of found property involving a 28-year-old female who reported found property at “The Pit” gym. The phone was recovered and will be logged onto the found property until the owner reaches out to Thermopolis Police Department. 

5:06 p.m. Report of a welfare check involving officers who responded to a call for the report of a potentially suicidal 16-year-old female. Upon arriving on the scene, it was discovered that an attempt was made using pills. The mother of the female transported her to the ER, where she was later released.

Friday, April 22

6:56 p.m. Report of criminal entry involving a 15-year-old male who entered an abandoned home and broke a window. The juvenile’s mother was contacted, and he was issued a citation for criminal entry and property destruction. 

Saturday, April 23

10:21 a.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a 62-year-old male who was transported to a motel to get out of the cold.

3:24 p.m. Report of suspicious behavior involving threatening phone calls towards staff.

6:20 p.m. Report of trespassing involving a 56-year-old male who was given a trespass notice at the 100 block of Clark St. and dumped trash. Citation issued for trespassing and littering. 

7:33 p.m. Report of harassment involving a 44-year-old husband and wife who were receiving harassing messages from an adult female dating back to six years ago. The wife and husband were advised to block the female on social media and stop communicating with her. No enforcement action was taken. 

11:38 p.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a 17-year-old juvenile male who accidentally called 911. Officers made contact with him and his mother. No enforcement action was taken. 

Sunday, April 24

12:20 a.m. Report of a missing person involving a 71-year-old-female resident at the Pioneer Home advising her sister was missing. Officers responded and found the female resident was hallucinating and that her sister had died several years back. 

12:34 p.m. Report of an 89-year-old female who was found deceased. There was no suspicious activity. 

5:11 p.m. Report of an animal problem involving a 25-year-old female advising a neighbor fed her dog something which made the dog sick. Insufficient evidence for any further enforcement action. 

Civil Court

Jenny M. Pavlovich, failure to provide proof of liability insurance, fees, and fines $570.

Justin Phipps, driving while license is canceled, suspended, or revoked if not suspended for 31-5-229 or 31-5-233, fees and fines $440.

Charles J. Blood, use of a controlled substance, Schedule I, II or III, 20 days jail, 18 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees, and fines $520 and failure to obey a stop sign, fees, and fines $150.
