Four middle schoolers crowned champions

Thermopolis Middle School Bobcat Wrestlers traveled Tuesday, Nov. 30 to Cody to take on Powell and Cody. 

Against Powell the Bobcats won 9 with a loss of 8 matches. 

Stone Pebbles, Armani Dukes and Cannon Boren won in the first period with pins. 

Bobcat wrestlers winning in the second period by pin are Dyllan Myers, Wiley Jones, Haeden Blair and Cannon Boren. 

Lilly Quintanilla and Cody Bomengen pinned their opponents in the third period. 

Wrestling against Cody Armani Dukes pinned in the first period, Dyllan Myers and Armani Dukes won in the second period and in the third period Clint Kimes, Trevin Shaffer and Dyllan Myers pinned their opponents. 

Lilly Quintanilla won by points 8-0 and Wiley Jones had a win by points 12-0.  

The Thermopolis Middle School wrestlers wrapped up their season on Saturday hosting Conference.

The Bobcats tied with Riverton for third out of ten teams competing. Teams points were: Cody 180.5, Lander 106.5, Riverton 100, Thermopolis 100, Lovell 95, Worland 79, Powell 78, Shoshoni 60.5, Greybull 51 and Rocky Mountain with 40 points. 

Individually the Bobcats crowned four champions.  Trevin Shaffer at 84 lbs, Lilly Quintanilla at 91 lbs, Haeden Blair at 138 lbs and Armani Dukes at 165 lbs. 

Stone Pebbles placed 2nd at 138 lbs, Cannon Boren was 3rd place at 105 lbs and Wiley Jones placed 3rd at 132 lbs. 

“Each wrestler really stepped up and gave their best efforts. There were some matches that didn’t go our way, but to stay composed and battle back to place was key to our team score and success,” said coach Emery about the Bobcat wrestlers. 

Armani Dukes finished his season with the middle school wrestling team undefeated for his second year in a row.

A Division 84 - Dyllan Myers, 2 team points.

A Division 91 - Lilly Quintanilla, 1st place, 21 team points.

A Division 105 - Cannon Boren, 3rd place, 18 team points.

A Division 132 - Wiley Jones, 3rd, 13 team points

A Division 138 - Haeden Blair, 1st place, 20 team points; Stone Pebbles, 2nd place, 14 team points.

A Division 145 - Cody Bomengen, 6 team points.

A Division 165 - Armani Dukes, 1st place, 20 team points.

B Division 84 - Trevin Shaffer, 1st place, 22 team points.

B Division 91 - Clint Kimes, 8 team points.

“It definitely takes a village to create a successful wrestling program. I’d like to say thank you to all of our wrestling fans, coaches, volunteers, parents, family members and friends for your time and support throughout the season and past years,” added Emery.
