John James Roark

Master Sargent John James Roark, 73, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, after a short illness.

Born August 18, 1948, in Albany, N.Y., he was one of nine children of John and Betty (Rapp) Roark. Following high school he joined the US Air Force where he served 20 years, seeing much of the world.

After meeting Ellen in Utah in 1992, the couple wed February 10, 1994, in New York.  The couple moved to Thermopolis in 2009.

John was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 2218 where he enjoyed socializing during his retirement.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing darts, and was a handyman.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of 27 years; seven brothers; one sister; children, Laura Roark of Las Vegas, Nev., and Cindy Thebo of Michigan; stepsons, Chris and J.J. Hastie, both of Thermopolis; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held at a later date.
