Listen for outdoor alert sirens

May 10-14 is NOAA Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Hot Springs County Emergency Management will be running the Outdoor Alert Sirens at noon each day of that week.

There are two siren tones to be aware of in Hot Springs County

A solid tone, which will indicate a Tornado Warning and a Hi-Lo Tone which will indicate a catastrophic Boysen Dam Failure and Evacuation is necessary.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon will be the solid tone demonstration

Tuesday and Thursday will be the Hi-Lo Alert for a Boysen Dam failure.

Remember, these are Outdoor Alert Sirens. They are not intended to be heard indoors. They alert people outdoors to go inside and get further information via NOAA All-Hazards Radio, HSC CodeRED, Smart-Phone APPS, Cable TV Interrupts, and commercial broadcast radio.

Be watching Hot Springs County Emergency Management this week and next for much more information.
