On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, December 7

11:13 a.m. Report of an accident on D. Ave. and E. Broadway where the driver of a vehicle made a u-turn and was struck by another vehicle. A 52-year-old female was cited for making an improper u-turn. 

5:05 p.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a civil issue with landlord and tenant regarding a dog in the house.

Wednesday, December 9

12:25 p.m. Report of a grass fire on Highway 20. The fire was an accident and not intentional starting in a burn barrel. The wind picked up an ember and lit the grass on fire. 

1:49 p.m. Report of a flare up grass fire in the same location on Highway 20.

7:47 p.m. Jesse Allen Sovey, 35, was arrested on alleged felony possession of a controlled substance. A warrant was issued.

Thursday, December 10

11:14 a.m. Report of a citizen assist where a subject at the Quality Inn was trying to get into a truck with a hotel key. The subject was convinced the truck was his and couldn’t understand why he couldn’t open it. The subject was gone by the time the deputy arrived.

Friday, December 11

1:59 p.m. A deputy witnessed an urinalysis for the Department of Family Services probation.

Sunday, December 13

12 p.m. Report of a one vehicle accident, no injuries. A report is pending.

Police Department

Monday, December 7

7:57 p.m. Report of a fire at the Las Fuentes restaurant location.

Tuesday, December 8

Time unknown: Casey Alvin Hagen, 38, of Glenrock was arrested on a warrant out of Platte County.

1:26 a.m. Report of vehicle alarms going off in Hot Springs State Park. The officer was unable to locate the vehicles. 

12:09 p.m. An agency assist with officials in Scotts Bluff, Neb., involving a recovered stolen vehicle.

4:01 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle. The officer arrived in the area and did not locate the vehicle. The officer told the reporting party if they see it again to call, as this is an ongoing problem.

8:38 p.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a 17-year-old female juvenile. The case has been turned over to the Department of Family Services..

Wednesday, December 9

6:27 a.m. Report of a fire at the Las Fuentes restaurant that flared back up.

5:22 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject that tried to pay for services with a watch and a ring at a local business.

10:51 p.m. Report of suspicious activity where the caller said people were moving items from an Uhaul into a new home. The caller thought they should not be there.

Thursday, December 10

7:47 a.m. Report of threatening behavior and words involving a 17-year-old female juvenile. The altercation did not get physical.

12:22 p.m. Report of an individual concerned for a possible missing person. The person was located and fine. 

3:03  p.m. Allyn Williams, 70, of Nebraska, was arrested for alleged possession of stolen property and theft of services. A warrant out of Nebraska was issued for him. 

7:24 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle with its door found open. The officer contacted the owner and everything was fine.

11:52 p.m. Report of a suspicious intoxicated male outside of where he was staying singing and dancing. The subject was ultimately returned to the interior of the house. 

Friday, December 11

8:57 a.m. Report of threatening text messages. The individuals were given advice on how to block them.

9:14 a.m. A subject was trespassed from a local business.

7:12 p.m. Report of harassment involving a neighbor dispute. Both parties have been advised on how to resolve the issues.

9:44 p.m.  Report of a lost wallet. The reporting party eventually found it in their own home.

Saturday, December 12

8:58 p.m. An officer assisted a subject with a place to stay for the night.

3:36 p.m. Report of harassment where threatening messages led to threaten phone calls

10:20 p.m. An officer assisted emergency medical services in the transport of a patient to the hospital.

Circuit Court

Lisa R. Albertson, falsely reported an emergency, fees and fines $250.

Raul A. Velazquez-Lopez, driving without a valid driver’s license, fees and fines $140.

Ronald C. Lantz, possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces or less, 365 days jail, 362 days suspended, one year supervised probation, fees and fines $245 and possession of a controlled substance, powder or crystal, three grams or less, one year jail, one year suspended, one year supervised probation, fees and fines $245 and use of a controlled substance, schedule I, II or III, six months jail, 156 days suspended, six months supervised probation, fees and fines $245.

William J. Gentilini, pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, fees and fines $170.

Michael Ted Hubele, taxidermist, operating without a license, fees and fines $450.

Ty S. Stops, possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces or less, one day jail, fees and fines $370.

David J. Brinkerhoff, shooting from, across or along roadways, fees and fines $250.
