David Charles Smith

David Charles Smith, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Hot Springs Health.

Born May 30, 1941, in Greybull, Wyo., he was the son of John and Mary (Giovanni) Smith. He graduated from Manderson High School.

On June 16, 1963, he married Frances Ann Bury in Thermopolis, Wyo. To this union was born three children.

David was first employed at Hot Springs County School District #1. He was then employed at Reda Pump and later employed by Hot Springs County where he became head of maintenance until his retirement.

David could fix anything and probably had the parts in his garage to do so. He loved to find antique furniture which he would then repair and refinish restoring its beauty. He always had a project in the works. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grands. He was a kind and generous man who would offer his help to anyone.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He enjoyed collecting coins, watching old westerns, going to the swimming pool and helping at Merlin’s Hide Out.

He is survived by sons, Anthony (Lindsay) of Duvall, Wash., and Andrew (Keri) of Casper, Wyo .; daughter, Annette (Mark) Viergets of Beulah, Wyo .; twelve grandchildren, Kelsey, Kali, Kynsi, Theo, Nicole, Natalie, Oakley, Yule, Graham, Amy, Courtney and Colby; and twelve great-grandchildren, the newest being Kyra. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 45 years; and brother.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 24, 2020, 2 p.m. at Monument Hill Cemetery with Father Randy Oswald officiating.

Memorials may be made the Hot Springs County Senior Center or the Thermopolis Chamber of Commerce.
