Money allocated for Ag

At the request of the Legislative Interim Agriculture Committee, Governor Mark Gordon has allocated $90 million in federal CARES Act funding to help the state’s agriculture industry recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Representative John Winter, who sits on the committee, said the Wyoming Business Council will open up funding in early November with closing near the end of the month.

“It is important that Ag producers get their accounting in order as soon as possible in order to qualify for the funds,” Winter said. More specific information on the process and available dates with be forth coming as the Business Council works to finalize the details for the process.

Winter added, “I want to thank our local Chamber of Commerce for their dedicated efforts earlier this year in helping local businesses navigate their way through the process of obtaining similar funding to help them during their time of need.”

Governor Gordon reserved funding for agricultural operations in anticipation the industry would require mitigation assistance by the end of summer and early fall.

The Business Council is in the process of finalizing the new Agriculture Fund, which comes under the existing COVID-19 Business Relief Program, and will be targeted to agricultural producers in Wyoming. The dollars are scheduled to become available in early November with the program closing by the end of the month. More details will be released later this month at http://www.wyobizrelief.org.
