Lady Cats play scrappy against Lady Warriors

The Lady Cats volleyball team was busy last week, playing Worland on Tuesday before traveling to Douglas to take on Burns on Saturday.

Although the girls lost in three to the Lady Warriors, coach Shannon Hill said, "We played scrappy and we played with them most of all three games. We would be winning at the beginning of each game and then at about point 13 or 14 we would let them go on runs and then weren't able to catch back up."

Scores against Worland were 18-25, 12-25 and 17-25 with Brianna DeVries leading the way in aces with two for the day along with eight digs. Grace Whitt pounded in six kills as well as two blocks and Julie Johnson added five kills to her stats.

Against Burns on Saturday, Hill said the girls played well, they just couldn't pull off the win.

"We lost in four and it really came down to errors and getting stuck in certain rotations," she said. "We are proving that we can play with these teams, we just need to turn that corner to consistency so we can pull off some wins.

"We had a couple of players come off the bench and serve and play defense for us, which was great to know that we have the depth we need. We have just three regular season matches left, so we need to kick it into gear."

Scores vs Burns were 15-25, 25-21, 20-25 and 19-25.

The Lady Cats will take on Newcastle on the road this Friday.
