Fireworks store opening soon

The Chamber of Commerce is looking for high school students and adults to operate their fireworks store in preparation for the Independence Day holiday. Fireworks SuperMarket purchased the store last year and contacted the Chamber in February. They wanted to find an organization to run it.

Chamber director Meri Ann Rush contacted a few different organizations to manage the store and couldn't find anybody to do it. Then the COVID-19 situation occurred and Rush wondered if any events were going to happen. She then made the decision to sign up and manage it herself. The Chamber is doing it as a source of income.

As a benefit to the local community, Rush contacted some sports and civic groups at the high school to find help.  For the kids to work at the store the Chamber will make a donation to the organizations they represent. Rush, however, is still looking for additional help. She said, "if there are other organizations with kids that are interested, we still have some slots that are available but we do require an adult here at all times. If there is someone looking for a job, they can see us at the Chamber."

The fireworks store will be open June 15 till July 4. The store will be open 10 a.m.-8 p.m., seven days a week.
