Jeffrey 'Jeff' Lamar Strong

Jeffrey "Jeff" Lamar Strong, 68, passed away May 15, 2020, in Thermopolis, Wyo.

He was born May 8, 1952, to Robert and Beverly (Butler) Strong. After graduating in 1970 from Hug High School in Reno, Nev., he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served as a Jet Engine Aircraft Mechanic.

Following his honorable discharge in January 1975, Jeff worked his way to team leader with Ralston Foods in Sparks, Nev., and later relocated to Elizabeth, Colo., where he met his wife, Jeannette, in 2000. The couple married in Thermopolis, Wyo., on April 21, 2001, then moved to Nevada where they resided until 2007. Returning to Wyoming, Jeff worked as the Maintenance Manager for Wyoming Whiskey from it's inception until his retirement in 2013.

Jeff's passions included racing, supporting all things patriotic and vacationing in Jamaica with Jeannette. In Jamaica, Ocho Rios became an anticipated second home after visiting and participating in the island activities with strangers becoming family. Whether participating as a driver of a Pro Go Kart reaching speeds exceeding 180 MPH at Sears Point or simply a fan on the sidelines or a Pit Boss for Jeannette's 318 modifieds, motorcycle racing with Steve Brizendine and an observer of televised racing, his racing passion was insatiable.

A patriot, Jeff joined the VFW Post 2281 in 2013 as a lifetime member. Believing strongly in the mission of the VFW, he partnered with "Hunting with Heroes", providing disabled Veterans the opportunity to hunt big game. He was presently serving as Quarter Master of the VFW.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Jeannette of 19 years; stepdaughters, Jodi Lynn Bender of Casper, Dawn Marie (Everett) Jones and Kymberlee Jeannette Oliver, both of Thermopolis; nine step-grandchildren; sister, Rolene (Mike) Lemich; brothers, Dan (Rose) Calvin and Stuart Strong; and last, but not least, his 24 hour companions, Gibz and Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: VFW Post 2281 or Hunting with Heroes, 302 Broadway, Thermopolis 82443
