Roger James Richardson

Roger James Richardson, 52, passed away on January 10, 2020, in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born June 21, 1967, in the U.S. Army Hospital, Fort Gordon, Ga., to Brian Lee Richardson and Eva Kathleen Shoopman. He spent his childhood in Thermopolis, Wyo., and his teen years in Springville, Utah. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 18 and served for 26 years. During his career he was a crew chief on a C-5 Galaxy and those duties took him all over the world. He enjoyed his career immensely and retired as a senior master sergeant with many military decorations and citations.

After retirement Roger lived in Belleville, Ill., and was employed by a civilian contractor working for the military. Roger was very talented in dealing with others and his ability to take command of any situation and lead others was supported by a very kind and empathetic heart. He loved his parents and his siblings and was very supportive of each of them.

Roger loved football and was an avid bass fisherman and participated in many bass fishing tournaments. His greatest ambition was to become a professional bass fisherman.

He is survived by both parents; sisters, Vickie, Laura and Jennifer; brothers, Randy, Aaron and Matthew; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joann.

He was cremated in St. Louis, Mo., and his ashes will be interred at Monument Hill Cemetery Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m.
