On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, March 30

10:31 p.m. Report of cars going too fast through the alleys in East Thermopolis. Deputy went to investigate and did not find anything and continued to monitor.

Tuesday, March 31

7:54 p.m. Report of a homeowner on East River Road who thought shots were being fired toward his house, but the shooters left the area. Deputy arrived and could not find any vehicles that fit the description.

Wednesday, April 1

11:06 a.m. Complaint of flyers being put in mailboxes in the Red Lane Area. People who put the flyers were contacted and the activity ceased. They were instructed to put flyers inside home doors unless you mail them. Mailboxes are considered federal property.

Friday, April 3

7:16 p.m. Report of a vehicle being driven all over the road at mile marker 127 Highway 20 South. Deputy investigated and the described vehicle was not located.

Police Department

Monday, March 30

12:11 p.m. Report of a subject walking down the street with children in distress and crying. Officer found that the parent was trying to reprimand her children.

4:16 p.m. A found wallet was turned in. There was no ID in it.

Tuesday, March 31

2 a.m. Officer assisted with the transport of a patient in the ambulance to the hospital.

10:21 a.m. Report of a possible homeless subject in town. Officer could not locate the subject.

7:36 p.m. Report of someone smelling marijuana inside a building. The officer could not locate any drugs or source of the smell.

10:48 p.m. Report of an officer assisting the hospital with a subject.

Thursday, April 2

10:42 a.m. Officer assisted with the transport of a patient in the ambulance to the hospital.

4:12 p.m. Officer assisted with the transport of a patient in the ambulance to the hospital.

Friday, April 3

1:21 p.m. Report of threats being made via social media. They are not in the jurisdiction of the police department. The subject was instructed to delete and block the individual making the threats.

6:36 p.m. Report of a local business looking for an individual who left some items behind and came to get it.

Saturday, April 4

11:43 a.m. Report of an individual at a residence that wasn’t wanted there. Officer found that the subject never got out of their car and onto the property and that they left.

3:15 p.m. Report of a vehicle hitting a light pole in a parking lot. There was minor damage to the vehicle.

6:28 p.m. Report of an accidental 9-1-1 dial from a child.

6:31 p.m. Report of single-vehicle accident within the town with two people injured. The vehicle rolled an unknown number of times. The occupants were transported to the hospital. Seat belts were in use.
