Lady Cats win in Big Piney

The varsity Lady Bobcat basketball team split a pair of games last weekend, first in Buffalo on Friday and then in Big Piney on Saturday.

Friday’s game against the Lady Buffs was a heartbreaker, losing a tough game 40-42.

Coach Matt McPhie said, “The team showed toughness and poise after falling behind early and trailing at half time.”

Ashley McPhie had a career high scoring game, dropping 25 points through the net for the Lady Cats.

Kamry Bowman chipped in six points on the night and Kaylee DeVries pulled away four steals and five rebounds. McKenna Bomengen dished out three assists for the game.

Saturday turned out better for the girls as they traveled to Big Piney and took on the Lady Punchers. Final score showed the Lady Cats on top, 38-31.

Bomengen led the way this time with 10 points, followed closely by McPhie and Bowman who each chipped in nine points.

DeVries pulled down nine rebounds and Mariah Brooks also added seven rebounds for the night. DeVries also continued her great defensive skills, collecting six steals.

The boys varsity Bobcat basketball team lost to Buffalo on Friday, 41-61, and to Big Piney Saturday, 64-69. No coaches comments about the games were available at press time.

Bobcat fans need to make their way to the Hot Springs County High School on Friday afternoon and evening for boys and girls home games against Worland. (See ad below for full schedule.)
