Bobcats win big against Dogies

The Thermopolis High School football team improved its conference record to 3-1 last Friday at home with a 67-16 win against Newcastle.

"The team came out early and set the tone for the game," coach Matt McPhie said. "The defense forced a three and out and a punt. Then on the first offensive play, Duder Harvey completed a pass to Roedy Farrell for a 45-yard touchdown. The offense did a nice job as they scored touchdowns on their first four offensive plays.

"The offense scored 10 touchdowns on the night. Duder Harvey accounted for eight of them including six touchdown passes and two scoring runs. Harvey completed 10 of 14 passes for 270 yards and six touchdowns. He rushed the ball seven times for 164 yards and two more scores.

"Logan Cole had a big night on the receiving end of some passes. Cole caught four passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns. Other players on the receiving end of Harvey touchdown passes were Cade McLean and Jarron Mortimore.

"The team also rushed for 304 yards on the ground. Along with Harvey's rushing total, Roedy Farrell added 78 yards and a touchdown and Jase Longwell had 68 yards rushing and a touchdown.

"The defense held Newcastle in check all night. Cade McLean collected two interceptions to highlight his senior night. Remington Ferree had three tackles for loss on the night and helped anchor a stingy rush defense.

"Jase Longwell and McLean led the defense in tackles for the night, while Matthew Daniels, Remington Ferree and Jarron Mortimore added sacks on the night.

"It was an excellent win on senior night. We have some special players who are winding down their playing careers here at HSCHS. They are leaving a lasting legacy and our program is, and will continue to be in a better place because of them."

This week, the team plays at Glenrock Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
