Phipps memorial concert planned

The third Rick Phipps Memorial Concert will be Saturday, Sept. 21 at the VFW, beginning at 7 p.m. The event is planned as a big dance. Phipps was well known in the local music community, and passed away on July 4, 2016, due to leukemia and other medical issues.

Performers will include Eric Kay, Kerry Wallace with Cal Winland and the Silvertip String Band of Cal Gandy on guitar and vocals, John Brooks on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Harold Hutson on guitar and vocals, Michael Wright on bass, Keith O’Brien on keyboard and vocals, and Josiah Nelson on drums.

The concert is a free-will donation event, with proceeds split between the VFW and the Masonic Scholarship Fund
